The brainchild of award-winning travel journalist Lebawit Lily Girma, this initiative would not be coming to life without the collaboration of a range of inspiring individuals in the Caribbean tourism industry. As the stories roll out starting this month, you may know them or their names might be new to you. They are of all ages, races, and backgrounds. What they have in common is an unwavering commitment to sustainable tourism in the Caribbean region and to showcase their destination in a way that benefits their communities, their visitors and the planet.
They are social entrepreneurs who balance people, earth, and profits.
They are leaders, colleagues and entrepreneurial visionaries I've been fortunate to meet along my career from travel writer to guidebook author, editor and sustainable tourism advocate for the last ten years.
It's an honor to have them as part of this effort to help travelers reimagine and reprioritize the way they See the Caribbean. The list of collaborating individuals and businesses will roll out below once the initiative kicks off.
