See the Caribbean initiative is the brainchild of Lebawit Lily Girma, an multi award-winning Ethiopian-born writer and photographer with over 10 years’ experience in storytelling focused on Caribbean culture, outdoor adventure and sustainable tourism as a vehicle for social impact. A former corporate attorney who ditched the office for the islands in 2008, her work on the region has been widely published in major travel publications, including CNN, BBC, AFAR, Lonely Planet, Sierra, Delta Sky, and MorningCalm (Korea Air), among many others.
In addition to authoring three Caribbean guidebook titles for Moon Travel Guides, Lily collaborates on editorial projects and content marketing with travel brands and tourism boards, such as American Airlines Vacations, Belize Tourism Industry Association, Go Dominican Republic, Marriott Bonvoy, Travelzoo, and World Nomads, among others. She has lived in and explored various Caribbean destinations long-term, traveling slowly through Jamaica, Belize, Grenada, and the Dominican Republic, while visiting many more independently and on a handful of media trips.
